Hi has anyone any thoughts about the new parking rules that are due to come out on 31st march 2008, do you think it will be a fairer system or do you think that it is another way of making more money out of the motorist. It will be interesting to see what you think of it. 8)

i reckon there will be pros & cons.

with regard to the double yellow lines parking (more serious an offense)...my main gripe with this is that the local concils DO abuse the placement of double yellows in MANY places in Newcastle

Ie its would be unsafe nor cause inconvenience for a short stop (cash machine, corner shop etc) and a single yellow would be more appropriate. its these cases (especially neer places where parking facilities are always FULL)

another problem that I have is lack of very short stay facilities in general in Newcastle)..often forcing people yo pay for one hour when 10 minutes would be just right....so for the council thay get the cash for six 1 hour stays for one bay over the period of only 1 hour....now that's a lucrative business!!
